SONGSTUDIO: RENÉE FLEMING MASTER CLASS Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 6:00 PM (Resnick Education Wing) Renowned soprano Renée Fleming leads a public master class featuring young artists from SongStudio, an intensive workshop showcasing emerging vocalists and collaborative pianists from around the world. A renowned performer and a passionate advocate for the art of singing, Ms. Fleming serves as coach, helping the young musicians hone their artistry as the audience observes the fascinating process. Designed to renew and refresh the presentation and experience of the vocal recital, SongStudio invites new and familiar audiences to engage with this time-honored yet ever-evolving art form. |

YULIANNA AVDEEVA Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 7:30 PM (Zankel Hall) Pianist Yulianna Avdeeva—winner of the prestigious quadrennial International Chopin Piano Competition—makes her New York recital debut with a program including Chopin’s Polonaise-fantaisie in A-flat Major; Szpilman’s The Life of Machines Suite; Weinberg’s Piano Sonata in B Minor, Op. 56, No. 4; J. S. Bach’s Partita No. 2 in C Minor, BWV 826; and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat Minor, Op. 36. |

JOHAN DALENE, Violin SAHUN SAM HONG, Piano Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 7:30 PM (Weill Recital Hall) The 2019 winner of the Carl Nielsen International Competition, violinist Johan Dalene and pianist Sahun Sam Hong make their first-ever appearances at Carnegie Hall, collaborating on a program to include Arvo Pärt’s Fratres; Lera Auerbach’s Selections from 24 Preludes for Violin and Piano, Op. 46; and violin sonatas by Grieg, Brahms, and Ravel. Please note that pianist Giorgi Gigashvili is unable to appear as originally scheduled due to visa-related issues. |

Through this public master class, music lovers are invited to witness first-hand the process of artistic growth and cultivation under the leadership of a master of the craft. ANNE-SOPHIE MUTTER AND MUTTER VIRTUOSI Friday, February 3, 2023 at 8:00 PM (Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage) Violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter—the “undisputed queen of violin-playing” (The Times, London)–returns to Carnegie Hall with the Mutter Virtuosi—a constantly-evolving ensemble of soloists. They play the New York premiere of Unsuk Chin’s Gran Cadenza for Two Violins in addition to Vivaldi’s Concerto in B Minor for Four Violins, Strings, and Continuo, RV 580, and The Four Seasons; and the Carnegie Hall premiere of Saint-Georges’s Violin Concerto in A Major, Op. 5, No. 2. This performance will be heard live by listeners around the world through the Carnegie Hall Live broadcast and digital series, created in partnership with WQXR. Co-hosted by WQXR’s Jeff Spurgeon and New Sound's John Schaefer, the concert will be broadcast on WQXR 105.9 FM in New York and streamed online at wqxr.org and carnegiehall.org/wqxr. |

EL MUNDO Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 7:30 PM (Weill Recital Hall) El Mundo, a Grammy Award-nominated early music ensemble performs works from the Archivo de Guatemala: a treasure trove of 17th- and 18th-century music that highlights the unique confluence of sounds heard in the Guatemala City Cathedral. Regional folk music and dance rhythms of Spain, Africa, and the Americas meld with sacred compositions and courtly European elements in piece by Castellanos, Falconieri, Quiroz, and more. With this performance, the group makes its Carnegie Hall debut with Director Richard Savino (marking his first appearance at the Hall since his 1986 recital debut on lute and guitar). |

SAMORA PINDERHUGHES AND FRIENDS Friday, February 10, 2023 at 9:00 PM (Zankel Hall) Pianist-composer Samora Pinderhughes leads world-class musicians, composers, poets, and others in a new multidisciplinary work that explores the daily realities of violence, incarceration, policing, and detention in US communities. Combining musical compositions with audio interviews and raw testimonials from 15 states across the country, The Healing Project is a condemnation of racial capitalism and the prison industrial complex, and an artistic celebration of resilience, healing, and resistance. Making its New York premiere, the concert version of The Healing Project is co-commissioned by Carnegie Hall, and produced by Anna Deavere Smith, Vijay Iyer, and Glenn Ligon. |

LEDISI SINGS NINA Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 8:00 PM (Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage) Nina Simone married art and activism during her legendary Carnegie Hall performance in 1964, leading to a historic live album and definitive recording of her civil rights anthem “Mississippi Goddam.” Boldly stepping into Simone’s shoes is powerhouse vocalist and Grammy winner Ledisi, whose 2021 album Ledisi Sings Nina showcases “both the diversity and depth of Simone’s musicianship, and the breathtaking range and reach of Ledisi’s own voice” (The New York Times). Taking on Simone’s emotionally searing, socially conscious songs, Ledisi returns to Carnegie Hall —with a 30-piece orchestra— to pay tribute to one of the icons of 20th-century music. |

MITSUKO UCHIDA, Piano Friday, February 24, 2023 at 8:00 PM (Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage) Mitsuko Uchida, one of the greatest pianists of our time, launches her Carnegie Hall Perspectives series with a solo recital featuring three late Beethoven piano sonatas. This program revisits the repertoire that she performed at Carnegie Hall 20 years ago as part of her first Perspectives series in November 2003 and again in October 2009. |
