Mr. Marino is Recognized for His Achievements as a Celebrated Architect and Commitment to Cultural Arts
Celebration to Include a Musical Performance by World Renowned Pianist Daniil Trifonov
(NEW YORK, NY; May 20, 2025)—Carnegie Hall has announced that renowned architect Peter Marino will receive the Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence at a gala benefit on Monday, June 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Tiffany & Co. The Landmark, the transformed iconic flagship store on New York City’s Fifth Avenue, designed by Mr. Marino. The award will be given in recognition of his achievements as a celebrated architect, known for integrating art within his architectural designs. A longtime Carnegie Hall patron, Marino’s architectural career has spanned several decades, earning him numerous awards for his worldwide residential, retail, cultural, and hospitality projects. He is a creative force whose impact extends far beyond his field, and at the center of his work is a deep passion for the arts. The evening’s celebration will include a cocktail reception, dinner catered by Daniel Boulud, and award ceremony, followed by a musical performance by Grammy Award-winning pianist Daniil Trifonov. Proceeds from the Medal of Excellence Gala support Carnegie Hall’s artistic, education, and social impact programs.
Carnegie Hall’s Medal of Excellence Gala leadership includes Lead Gala Co-Chairs Marina K. French and Hope and Robert F. Smith, and Gala Co-Chair Committee Bob Colacello, Larry Gagosian, Cornelia Guest, Rashid Johnson, Eric L. Motley, Katharine Rayner, Lauren Santo Domingo, Vito Schnabel, and Barbara Tober. Mr. Marino will be the 14th recipient of the Carnegie Hall Medal of Excellence. Previous recipients have included: Douglas L. Peterson, Anne M. Finucane, James P. Gorman, Vartan Gregorian, Sanford I. Weill, Oscar de la Renta, Bill Cunningham, Henry T. Segerstrom, and Terry J. Lundgren.

About The Honoree
Peter Marino, AIA, is the principal of Peter Marino Architect, a 160-person, New York–based architecture practice founded in 1978. Working globally across a broad range of project types and scales, Marino is widely credited for redefining modern luxury through equal emphasis on architecture and interior design. The practice is recognized for its award-winning residential, retail, cultural, and hospitality projects worldwide. Well known for integrating art within architectural designs, Peter Marino has commissioned more than 300 site-specific works of art.
PMA projects currently in design or recently completed include a new 10 story flagship for Tiffany & Co. in NYC; a new ground up building for Chanel in Los Angeles; Cheval Blanc hotel in the historic ‘La Samaritaine’ in Paris; a flagship for Dior on Avenue Montaigne in Paris; a flagship for Bulgari in Place Vendome, Paris; a new building for Chanel in Miami; a complex of buildings in Greece; a Louis Vuitton flagship in Ginza, Tokyo; an art foundation in Southampton, New York; condominiums in Miami; and numerous private residences worldwide.
For furthering art and culture, Peter Marino was named a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2012) and an Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (2017) by the French Ministry of Culture. Cultural design projects include ‘The Manufactory of Extravagance of Meissen and Chantilly’ at Musee Conde (2020–2021); 'Counterpoint: Selections from The Peter Marino Collection' at Southampton Arts Center (2017); ‘Fire and Water’ an exhibition of his sculptural bronze boxes at Gagosian Gallery in London (2017); ‘Memento Mori: Robert Mapplethorpe Photographs from the Peter Marino Collection’ in Tokyo and Kyoto (2017); 'One Way: Peter Marino’ at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami (2014–2015); and ’Beauty & Power’ an exhibition of his Renaissance and Baroque bronze collection at the Wallace Collection in London.
Peter Marino purchased and restored the former Rogers Memorial Library at 11 Jobs Lane in Southampton, New York, and opened the Peter Marino Art Foundation in the summer of 2021.
Peter Marino’s distinguished honors include 22 citations from the AIA for architectural design excellence. He is Chairman of Venetian Heritage Foundation and on the board of directors for International Committee of L’Union Centrale des Arts Décoratifs. He holds an architecture degree from Cornell University and began his career at Skidmore Owings & Merrill, George Nelson and I.M. Pei/Cossutta & Ponte.
