Servicing the residents of Manhattan's Lower East Side since 1898, the Hamilton Madison House’s City Hall Senior Center focuses on improving the social and physical wellness of seniors over the age of 60 by providing programs that meet their basic needs and maintain their health and independence. The center serves as a vital hub for information and referrals, including consultation regarding Social Security, food stamps, Medicaid, Medicare, and senior housing. It also offers a vibrant environment where seniors participate in many social activities and partake of nutritious meals, breakfast, and lunch. A wide range of recreational activities and educational classes are offered on a daily basis. The center is funded by the New York City Department for the Aging.
