Introducing the new season: The New York Pops ... #28
The New York pops kicks off its 28th season at Carnegie Hall on October 16 playing the music of Swedish supergroup ABBA. The highly popular series continues on November 19 celebrating the birthday and music of Stephen Sondheim, followed on December 10 and 11 with the now customary Holiday concert. This year, also on December 11, the orchestra will perform a Carnegie Hall Family Concert, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! In 2011 long-time Tonight Show bandleader Doc Severinsen joins the Pops for a concert of sizzling Latin music on January 28, while the final New York Pops concert of the season on March 11 is a retelling of the iconic 1961 Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall concert.
