Misako Rocks! with Carnegie Hall and the New York Public Library
Tokyo-born manga artist Misako Rocks! leads a number of manga drawing workshops for ages 12 through 18 during JapanNYC at various New York Public Library branches between October 2010 and April 2011.
A self-taught artist she developed a love for comics and manga at an early age, drawing her first comic by age 13, and having illustrations published in magazines at that time. She moved to New York in 2001 and worked as a puppeteer, face painter, animal-balloon maker, and art teacher, while still developing her own work. Since moving to the US she has had several books published including Biker Girl and Rock and Roll Love.
Misako Rocks! is currently in Japan to appear on Japanese television and we are happy to announce that she will act as a guest blogger, in both English and Japanese, on carnegiehall.org/japannyc throughout the season.
