Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra at Carnegie Hall

Tonight in the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, Valery Gergiev conducts the Mariinsky Orchestra in an all-Shostakovich program. An appearance by Maestro Gergiev and his orchestra is always a one-of-a-kind event, so we're excited that he brings the St. Petersburg connection to Carnegie Hall on opening night. That night, Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra perform an all-Russian program that features three figures closely associated with the Mariinsky Orchestra's home city—Shostakovich's Festive Overture, Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme, and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade.

Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra perform four more all-Russian concerts—including three all-Tchaikovsky programs—at Carnegie Hall in October.
