Carnegie Hall Live: Details Announced

Enjoy wonderful live music at Carnegie Hall ... or wherever you are!

We are thrilled to provide details about the concerts included in Carnegie Hall Live—a vibrant radio broadcast and digital series—throughout the 2011–2012 season.Last February, we announced this exciting new partnership with WQXR 105.9, New York's classical station, and American Public Media

Carnegie Hall Live launches on Tuesday, October 11 at 8 PM (EDT), with a highly anticipated performance by St. Petersburg's Mariinsky Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Valery Gergiev. In total, 12 performances by several of the world's foremost ensembles, soloists, and recitalists are part of Carnegie Hall Live, broadcast live from the three stages of Carnegie Hall. This series stretches far beyond the Big Apple with live national radio broadcasts in markets across the country, and an extensive digital interactive presence to reach audiences worldwide.

During each broadcast, WQXR, APM, and digital partner NPR Music hosts live chats, moderated by guest hosts, through NPR Music's new live-event platform embedded on wqxr.org and carnegiehall.org/wqxr. Through the event application and Twitter hashtag #CHLive, online audience members are able to chat with each other, as well as with the hosts. Participants can also submit questions to be answered during the intermission features that are part of select broadcasts. Tied to the broadcast series, both wqxr.org/CarnegieHallLive and classicalapm.org will stream live and on-demand audio; special videos of performers in WQXR's Café Concerts; Top 5 @105 videos that feature conductors talking about their favorite pieces and recordings; Carnegie Hall–produced video profiles; and photo galleries from each performance.

All concerts air live on WQXR 105.9 FM in New York and stream live at wqxr.org. The concerts will also be broadcast live in more than 35 markets across the country, including Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Miami, Minneapolis, Cleveland, Cincinnati, San Antonio, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, and Austin, among others. A complete list of stations is available at wqxr.org/programs/carnegie/where-listen/.
