A Golden Age of Music at Carnegie Hall: From the Carnegie Hall Archives

In Carnegie Hall's continuing A Golden Age of Music series, Gino Francesconi—director of Carnegie Hall's archives and Rose Museum—reveals how flicking through early concert programs uncovered just what A Golden Age of Music meant at Carnegie Hall.

It was a period that saw giants of classical music—Tchaikovsky, Elgar, Saint-Saëns, and Rachmaninoff as pianist under the baton of Mahler—performing on the Carnegie Hall stage, and almost 400 premieres—including Dvořák's "New World" Symphony, Debussy's La mer, Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and Scriabin's Poem of Ecstasy.
