Open Working Reheasals at Carnegie Hall

Members of Carnegie Hall can observe some of the world's greatest musicians as they prepare for a Carnegie Hall performance. Open working rehearsals are open to Carnegie Hall members at the Friend level ($100) and up.

On October 28, pianist András Schiff joins fellow countrymen Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra to prepare for the first of their two late-October concerts at Carnegie Hall. Bartók's Piano Concerto No. 1 and and Piano Concerto No. 2 are bookended in the program by Schubert's Overture to Die Zauberharfe and his Fifth Symphony. Schiff calls the First Piano Concerto "one of Bartók's most radical compositions" and "incredibly difficult to coordinate," so this is a good rehearsal to catch! Watch Schiff discuss Bartók's piano concertos here.

Robert Spano and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra are joined by pianist Garrick Ohlsson on November 5 for an open working rehearsal of their program for that night's concert. In addition to Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, the maestro and orchestra will rehearse for the New York premiere of Esa-Pekka Salonen's Nyx and Scriabin's The Poem of Ecstasy—one of the featured pieces in our A Golden Age of Music website.

Finally, on Friday, November 18, Steven Reineke and The New York Pops' with Cheyenne Jackson prepare for Cheyenne Jackson's Cocktail Hour: Music of The Mad Men Era later that night.

Rehearsal passes are still available for all three concerts. Please call 212-247-7800 to join or become a member online today to secure exclusive access to open working rehearsals.
