Daniel Barenboim in Conversation with Jon Snow

Daniel Barenboim and Edward Said, the late esteemed scholar and critic, founded the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra in 1999 to enable intercultural dialogue and to promote the experience of collaborating as a matter of common interest.

Led by Barenboim, this group of Israeli, Palestinian, and other Arab musicians continues its mission at Carnegie Hall in early 2013 with a complete cycle of Beethoven's nine symphonies.

On Saturday, April 21, at London's School of Oriental and African Studies, Maestro Barenboim and English journalist Jon Snow discuss the role of culture and the arts in a political and international context, focusing on recent developments in the Middle East. The event is part of the conductor's Beethoven For All initiative.

Attendance is free, but pre-registration is required at beethoven-for-all.com/london. The event will also be streamed live on the School of Oriental and African Studies' website from 11 AM tomorrow (London-time). If you are unable to tune in live, the full event will be recorded and posted online at beethoven-for-all.com/london.
