Live from Carnegie Hall: Susan Graham

On January 27—in the first concert of Renée Fleming's Perspectives series—mezzo-soprano Susan Graham returns to Carnegie Hall to perform a recital with her good friend Renée Fleming, accompanied by pianist Bradley Moore. Featured in today's installment of our Live from Carnegie Hall series is the recording of Graham's recital debut here.

Artist: Susan Graham
Album: Susan Graham at Carnegie Hall
Date Recorded: April 14, 2003
Fun Fact: Susan Graham performed four encores including "Sexy Lady"—specially written for her by Ben Moore—which pokes fun at her performances in "pants roles" in opera.

Susan Graham first sang at Carnegie Hall with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra on March 17, 1990. Thirteen years later—having performed here several times in the intervening period—she made her solo recital debut, accompanied by pianist Malcolm Martineau, in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage.

The program for the evening included many of the same composers whose works also appear on the program for the January 25 recital—Debussy, Delibes, Hahn, and Messager.
