The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra “kicks off” its Link Up concerts

The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting 12 “Let’s Go LPO!” Young People’s Concerts this winter, in and around the New Orleans area, serving more than 3,000 local elementary students. Partner teachers have been teaching Carnegie Hall’s Link Up: The Orchestra Rocks curriculum, preparing their classes for the interactive concert in which students play alongside the LPO in exploring different ways composers use rhythm.

With New Orleans in the Super Bowl spotlight, Amanda Wuerstlin, the LPO’s director of education, and her education team added a local twist: learning how an orchestra works together as a team, just like their beloved New Orleans Saints. The Saints even provided an official team uniform for the concert!

As both the Super Bowl festivities and the LPO’s The Orchestra Rocks concerts wrap up in New Orleans, we’re looking forward to more than 130 remaining Link Up concerts throughout the spring and summer with 42 partner orchestras. Stay tuned for more exciting news from Link Up Partner Orchestras across the US and around the globe!
