In 2014, the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA) embarked on a coast-to-coast tour of the US. Following a two-week training residency with leading professional orchestra musicians, these remarkable teenagers were joined by conductor David Robertson and violinist Gil Shaham for concerts in eight legendary venues, from Carnegie Hall to The Music Center’s Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
Each summer, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute brings together the brightest young musicians from across the country (ages 16–19) to form NYO-USA. In 2015, members of the orchestra add another stamp to their passports with a concert tour of China under the direction of conductor Charles Dutoit and with pianist YUNDI.
The deadline to apply for the 2015 orchestra is November 5.
