• Gabriel Kahane Requests That You Don't Even Listen

Composer and singer-songwriter Gabriel Kahane makes his Carnegie Hall debut as a headlining artist on October 25 with a program called Don't Even Listen, in which he explores connections between classical and popular song forms to explode the notion that these bodies of work should be treated differently.

Here, Kahane discusses the thinking behind how he devised and constructed the program for the evening, which combines his own works—Come On All You Ghosts, selections from Where are the Arms, and the world premiere of a new work, The Fiction Issue, commissioned by Carnegie Hall—with songs by composers who range from Ives and Schumann to Andrew Norman and Cee Lo Green.
