Jonathan Biss first appeared with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in 2005. Like Orpheus, he is on a Beethoven mission, recording all 32 piano sonatas, publishing a book, and teaching an online class, Exploring Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas, as an extension of his role on the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music. Biss and Orpheus reunite for a performance of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3. Rossini’s first professional overture and Poulenc’s Sinfonietta provide a festive beginning and end to the program, and a work by Pulitzer Prize-winner Ellen Taaffe Zwilich celebrates her 75th-birthday season.
