Polymorphism: From Classical to Unconventional

Weill Recital Hall
Joined by the Voxare String Quartet, oboist Ian Shafer makes his Carnegie Hall debut. He presents the world premiere of Locales by composer Mohammed Fairouz, commissioned by Mr. Shafer. The work captures the atmosphere and spirit of five cities (Beirut, Abu Dhabi, Paris, London, and New York) that are deeply personal for the composer. The evening also includes Mozart's Oboe Quartet in F major, K. 370, written for oboe virtuoso Friedrich Ramm; Britten's Phantasy for Oboe Quartet, Op. 2, an early work written by the pacifist-composer in response to the horrors of world war; and Samuel Barber’s Canzonetta.
