The young Beethoven filled the void left by Mozart—who penned the noble Overture to La Clemenza di Tito in the final months of his life—and inspired Georges Bizet, already an impressive symphonist at 17, when he composed his Symphony in C. Jessie Montgomery’s sparkling tone poem recounts her experience growing up in a recording studio on the lower east side of New York City.
