Honoring Our Veterans
Saturday, November 19, 2016
8 PM
Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
Conductor David Bernard leads the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony and chorus of 200 voices in a gala performance honoring our veterans. Dreams of the Fallen, composed by ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Award recipient Jake Runestad and presented here in its New York premiere, was inspired by the poetry of Brian Turner, telling the story of veterans who have been forever changed by their experiences serving in war. The program concludes with Beethoven's testament to universal brotherhood, his Symphony No. 9.
