Arturo O'Farrill by Laura Mariet
Arturo O’Farrill honors the family tradition established by his father, Cuban jazz legend Chico O’Farrill, with marvelously inventive and virtuosic performances. In addition to heading his sextet, he leads the Grammy Award–winning Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra and frequently appears at New York’s famous jazz club Birdland. O’Farrill and the band recently released Boss Level, a new album featuring his sons Zack and Adam on drums and trumpet, respectively. With their intergenerational commitment to sizzling Afro-Latin music, the O’Farrills are rightly known as the “first family of Afro-Cuban jazz” (The New York Times).
