Matuto by Matt Carr
Built around the core duo of guitarist Clay Ross and accordion player Rob Curto, Matuto (meaning “country boy”) offers a unique blend of blues, Latin jazz, and Appalachian bluegrass. Ross’s “rich vocabulary of folk, blues, and jazz” (The Wall Street Journal) perfectly complements Curto’s mastery of Brazilian forró music for a signature sound that is bolstered by bass, triangle and zabumba, a Brazilian bass drum.
