Boston Symphony Orchestra

Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, Act II (opera in concert)

Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
There is no denying that Tristan und Isolde is one of the greatest showcases for singers and conductors. This concert features performers who meet the challenge. The Independent called Jonas Kaufmann “the preeminent Wagnerian tenor of his era,” while the “lustrous vocalism” of soprano Camilla Nylund has been praised by Opera News. Andris Nelsons, who “seems to draw the best from every orchestra he works with” (The New York Times), conducts his Boston Symphony Orchestra in the impassioned Act II, which includes one of the most moving and beloved of love duets of Wagner’s masterpiece.
