Purcell’s Chacony in G Minor, Z. 730 serves as the inspiration for the third movement of Britten’s String Quartet No. 2 in C Major, which was written to commemorate the 250th anniversary of Purcell’s death. The program also includes a Haydn trio and Dvořák’s joyous string sextet.
