Pursuing a Doctorate in Piano Performance at Eastman School of Music, Alison Chiang presents two sonatas by Franz Schubert and Sergei Prokofiev. Both B-flat sonatas – Schubert’s last and Prokofiev’s final War Sonata – are masterpieces representing human struggle in the face of death and war, tragedy and triumph. As the 2019 winner of the Eastman Piano Competition, she owes her musical development to teachers Natalya Antonova, Nelita True, Pamela Mia Paul, and Olga Radosavljevich.
