Heroes’ Ball

A Beethoven Dance Party and Sound Salon
Tuesday, March 17, 2020 7 PM New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
URL Copied
Ludwig van Beethoven—studied from the death mask [i.e., life mask], photograph of bust statue by Hugo Hagen (ca. 1892), based on life mask by Franz Klein (1812), loc.gov/item/2001700485.
Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony starts with a violent waltz and ends with diplomatic English contra dance. His Seventh Symphony famously revolves around a solemn funeral march, but ends with a wild collage of Irish folk tunes and reels. Join us for an interactive dance workshop, and learn the dances that are the foundation of Beethoven’s most famous symphonic works.
