The Crossing by Becky Oehlers
Hearing a new work from Michael Gordon, one of the founders of Bang on a Can, is always an eagerly anticipated event. Hearing it performed by a cutting-edge cellist and a “luminous and acute” (The New York Times) chorus makes it a concert you won’t want to miss. The rhythmic innovations of Gordon’s music are merged with what The New Yorker describes as “the fury of punk rock, the nervous brilliance of free jazz, and the intransigence of classical modernism.” Experience something new and adventurous from Gordon, who spent part of his childhood living outside of Nicaragua’s capital city.
