Can & Able!

The Resilience of the Gift
Monday, April 13, 2020 6 PM New York Public Library for the Performing Arts
URL Copied
Ludwig van Beethoven—studied from the death mask [i.e., life mask], photograph of bust statue by Hugo Hagen (ca. 1892), based on life mask by Franz Klein (1812), loc.gov/item/2001700485.
This event brings together several differently abled Black artists for an evening of new, multidisciplinary micro-commissions inspired by Beethoven’s resilience to create in spite of his health challenges. Drawing from the composer’s personal journal and his lateperiod "Archduke" Trio, these artists celebrate how art can change the world "in spite of."
