Cancelled: Beethoven in London: The Wallace Collection

Saturday, April 18, 2020 6 PM The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Beethoven was celebrated in England throughout his lifetime—so much so, that the Philharmonic Society of London commissioned his Ninth Symphony in 1817. In celebration of the reopening of The Met’s British Galleries, MetLiveArts presents two intimate, in-gallery performances featuring music that would have been originally heard in London’s opulent homes.

The Scotland-based Wallace Collection—one of the world’s leading historic brass ensembles—perform works from the 19th-century English brass tradition, including arrangements of Beethoven’s Scottish Songs and Turkish March from The Ruins of Athens.

Part of: Beethoven Celebration
