East Meets West
East Meets West juxtaposes works by Brahms and Sarasate with the sounds of Maqam in Mugam-Poema by Fikret Amirov (Azerbaijan) and the US premiere of Pendi Nagmalary by composer and artist Suhan Tuyliyev (Turkmenistan). The program ends with Kodaly’s Duo for Violin and Cello. Diana Seitz also premieres the recently re-discovered Caprices for Violin Solo by Konstantin Mostras, the Russian violinist, pedagogue, and composer, who taught Ivan Galamian.
