The first half begins with two Schubert songs in piano transcriptions, followed by the tender Scenes From Childhood by Schumann and concluding with the dramatic "Pathetique" Sonata by Beethoven. The second half is a salute to vintage Broadway, featuring excerpts from South Pacific (Rodgers), Girl Crazy (Gershwin), Merrily We Roll Along (Stephen Sondheim), Candide (Bernstein), My Fair Lady (Loewe) and Show Boat (Kern).
