After two sold-out shows, The Vietnam War: At Home and Abroad (2018) and We Chose to Go to the Moon (2019), John Monsky returns with a new multimedia presentation that tells the powerful story of the American landing on the Normandy beaches and subsequent 11 months of battle that finally secured victory in Europe. Ian Weinberger (Hamilton) conducts Orchestra of St. Luke’s with vocalists Nick Cordero, Kate Rockwell, Tony LePage, and Bryonha Parham in a performance of songs of the era and selections from the soundtracks of Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers. Directed by Peter Flynn, the evening provides dramatic enhancement to striking photos by Lee Miller, one of the 127 accredited female journalists of the war.
