CARNEGIE HALL PRESENTS

Cancelled: China NCPA Orchestra

URL Copied
Lü Jia, Behzod Abduraimov by Evgeny Eutykhov
Jazz, Native American music, and African American spirituals inspire two works on this energetic program. Behzod Abduraimov, “the most perfectly accomplished pianist of his generation” (The Independent) performs Ravel’s dazzling Piano Concerto in G Major—a work that looks back to Haydn and Mozart, yet is flecked with jazz references and touched with tenderness. Dvořák’s “New World” Symphony has its share of American tunes heard by the composer during his stay in the US, resulting in a masterpiece that is sweetly lyrical and dramatically charged.
