CARNEGIE HALL PRESENTS
Cancelled: Galilee Chamber Orchestra
Monday, December 7, 2020
8 PM
Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
The Galilee Chamber Orchestra promotes peace, uniting Arab and Israeli performers in one ensemble. Hear their Carnegie Hall debut in Shostakovich’s exuberant concerto and extroverted symphonies of Haydn and Beethoven. Haydn’s “Fire” Symphony’s rollicking opening sets the tone for a charming work that culminates in boisterous horn calls, while Beethoven’s First Symphony honors Haydn’s approach, but adds adventurous harmonies and robust roles for winds and brass. The boisterous, brassy trumpet engages in witty dialogues with the piano in Shostakovich’s vivacious concerto.
