Witness history when all of Rachmaninoff’s piano concertos and Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini are performed for the first time in a single evening at Carnegie Hall. From his First Concerto with its youthful exuberance and hints of his mentors Arensky and Tchaikovsky, to the virtuosity of the Rhapsody, each work presents immense technical challenges to a pianist and glorious listening to an audience. Denis Matsuev brings his “epic technique … superhuman speed, power, and agility” (The Boston Globe) to this marathon performance.
