CARNEGIE HALL PRESENTS

Orchestra of St. Luke’s

Music for Royals
Thursday, March 18, 2021 8 PM Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage
URL Copied
Bernard Labadie by Dario Acosta
Experience the pomp and splendor of music composed for royalty. Music for the Royal Fireworks showcases Handel’s gift for blending formal style with song-like lyricism in a thrilling showpiece for winds, brass, and strings. His choral music also commemorated important events. Zadok the Priest rouses with brass fanfares, beating drums, and ecstatic choruses to celebrate King George II’s coronation. Bach celebrates as well, in this case with a rarely heard work honoring August III’s coronation as King of Poland.
