Fumiyoshi, Shamisen, with Guest Artists

Breakthrough
Sunday, October 17, 2021 2 PM Weill Recital Hall
Shamisen virtuoso Fumiyoshi returns to Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall after his nearly sold-out Zankel Hall concert in 2019.  He conjures sound from a three-stringed Japanese lute and pushes the boundaries of tradition with collaborations through jazz and rock musicians. Fumiyoshi started playing Shamisen at the age of 9 with his mother and Shamisen master Takahashi Chikuiku.  His next venture is a concert with jazz musician Ron Carter in his hometown Niigata, Japan in November.
