Ryan Speedo Green by Dario Acosta
Experience the luscious sound of The MET Orchestra outside the opera house. The ensemble begins its 2022–2023 Carnegie Hall series with a program of popular works by essential composers—a perfect entry point for newcomers that is sure to equally attract longtime fans. Hear Bartók’s enduringly popular Concerto for Orchestra, a riveting tour de force for the ensemble. Enjoy the rich bass-baritone of celebrated Met artist Ryan Speedo Green as he sings a gripping Mussorgsky song cycle, expertly orchestrated by Shostakovich. The program closes with music from Stravinsky’s timeless breakthrough The Firebird, a richly textured work that combines impeccable orchestration, Russian folk music, and evocative imagery into an eminently enjoyable whole.
