Celebrate women in Jewish and Yiddish music with Di Shvester: The Sisters. Enjoy two of New York’s finest vocalists—Eleanor Reissa and Cilla Owens—as they harmonize, swing, and groove through the vast and varied world of Jewish composers, lyricists, and songstresses. Reissa and Owens have interpreted this music for decades as soloists and combine their talents for this foot-tapping, heart-grabbing concert. The program’s musical director is composer-saxophonist Paul Shapiro, whose career has traversed jazz, R&B, and Yiddishkeit. This concert salutes the music of Jewish women, including the Barry Sisters and Yiddish folk and art songs, and the rich culture they represent.
