Carnegie Hall’s NYO Jazz—led by trumpet great Sean Jones—is an extraordinary big band comprising some of the best young jazz players from across the United States. Together they showcase jazz as a limitless art form, one that bridges genres, generations, and borders. NEA Jazz Master and Grammy-winning vocalist Dee Dee Bridgewater joins as special guest in this program of timeless jazz standards; big-band gems by Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Roy Hargrove; and contemporary pieces that explore jazz’s influence on hip-hop, R&B, and pop. Don’t miss the Lucerne Festival debut of NYO Jazz, following last summer’s debut of Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA).
