Valerie Coleman’s evocative woodwind quintet, Portraits of Josephine, celebrates the life of African American performer and social justice activist Josephine Baker—an icon of Parisian and Berlin modernity. Playwright and actor Kirya Traber joins Orchestra of St. Luke’s to weave together Baker’s story with her original narrative.
