Kimball Gallagher, Piano
Pianist and composer Kimball Gallagher returns to Zankel Hall with a program reflecting both his artistic path and his global work through 88 International. Two musical triptychs form the heart of the evening: Debussy’s Estampes, influenced by Eastern sonorities and impressionistic color, and the world premiere of Hwaen Ch’uqi’s Trois Études Africaines, informed by North African Gnawa traditions, West African Kora, and Ethiopian jazz. Simon Fink’s Lugalay, intertwining Burmese and American lullabies, and Gallagher's own "ruminative jazz" Preludes will also be heard. The program concludes with Brahms’ Sonata No. 3.
