Echoes to Melodies: An Evening of Piano Solos and Original Chamber Music
An echo carries the past forward; a melody is what we make of it in the present. Echoes to Melodies brings together two young artists. In the first half, composer Simon Long presents original chamber works rooted in nature: rivers, seasons, winter light, rendered with transparency. After intermission, 11-year-old pianist Macey Long plays a solo set spanning two centuries, from Czerny and Mendelssohn to Gershwin, Rosenblatt, and Bolcom.
The evening will open with brief introductory remarks. Following the performance, the audience is invited to remain for a short certificate presentation.
