For over 60 years, Musicians from Marlboro has brought chamber music performances from Vermont’s festival to national audiences. Former Doric Quartet violist Hélène Clément and JACK Quartet cellist Jay Campbell lead a sextet of Marlboro string players through a survey of 20th-century styles: Strauss' late-Romantic String Sextet, Schoenberg's viscerally personal String Trio depicting his near-fatal heart attack, Kurtág's postmodern 12 Microludes for string quartet, and Bartók's First Quartet, balancing nostalgia with emerging modernism.
