Summary: Students identify musical form through movement.
Standards: US 1, 5, 6; NYC 1, 2
Modality: performing, responding
Materials: student worksheet (Musical Patterns), white board, music examples
Time Required: 10 minutes

Download Teacher Worksheet: "Bluebird, Bluebird" and "Juba"
- Perform the song by singing. Have students create movements to show when the pattern changes. (Example: start singing in a seated position and stand when the pattern changes.)
- On the Musical Patterns student worksheet, clap the pairs of rhythms with students using call and response. Have students identify whether the rhythmic patterns are the same or different by circling the same or different picture.
