Hawaii Youth Symphony (Honolulu, Hawaii)
Through its mission to help youth reach their full potential through the study of orchestral music, the Hawaii Youth Symphony (HYS) celebrates the positive impact music education has on academic achievement and social-emotional development. Established as a nonprofit organization in 1964, its programs serve beginners to advanced performers through instruction in chamber and jazz ensembles, symphony orchestras, and big bands. HYS aspires to promote music education as a right and empower young people with the joy, skills, and character building music-making provides. HYS serves more than 700 students ages 7‒18 from over 100 schools statewide each year.
