About the Fellowship
This two-year fellowship program prepares extraordinary young professional classical musicians for careers that combine musical excellence with teaching, community engagement, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Ensemble Connect offers top-quality performance opportunities, intensive professional development, and the chance to partner with a New York City public school throughout the fellowship.
Thinking dynamically about programming and pushing the boundaries of the concert experience, Ensemble Connect performs chamber music at Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and other venues.
Teaching and Community Engagement
Each fellow partners with an instrumental music teacher at a New York City public school to share artistry and strengthen students’ musical skills by using a creativity-focused approach. Fellows also develop interactive performances for school and community audiences.
Ensemble Connect has regular residencies at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY and with The Edmond de Rothschild Foundations in Paris, France that feature audience engagement activities, interactive performances in schools and community venues, and more.
Weekly workshops with leaders in the fields of performance, education, and entrepreneurship give each fellow the tools to launch personally meaningful careers as 21st-century musicians.
Fellows receive a stipend of $30,000 along with health benefits and access to rehearsal and performance facilities. On average, the time commitment for each fellow is approximately 20 hours per week.
