Future Music Project
Studio 57 is an open, teen-driven space to collaborate with peers, work side-by-side with leading professional musicians, and jam with an artistic community in monthly concerts. Teens ages 14–19 (high school and up) from across NYC gather to choose their own musical adventure. Studio 57 is free, and MetroCards and snacks are provided for each workshop.
Choose Your Own Adventure
Workshops run every Saturday from October through June from 11 AM–3 PM. Students can drop in for an hour or stay for the entire session. Attendance is not mandatory, and participants are welcome to join on as many Saturdays as they would like. All workshops take place in the Resnick Education Wing at Carnegie Hall at 154 West 57th Street.
At Studio 57, teens have the power to choose their own adventure:
- Learn from professional artists from a diverse roster of genres.
- Collaborate in a jam room, experimenting and improvising while learning how to create music with peers.
- Explore a broad range of music—vocal, instrumental, digital, and acoustic—from all genres and styles.
- Listen to others and/or perform in monthly Studio 57 Live concerts.
Participants must RSVP by 4 PM the day before they plan to attend in order to be added to the security system and have access to the building. Once a participant RSVPs, they do not need to RSVP again for future sessions. A signed permission form from a parent/guardian is required for all participants. Download the permission slip here.
Studio 57 Live
Once a month, Future Music Project participants have the option to take part in a Studio 57 Live concert and invite family and friends to hear their music. Anyone involved in Studio 57 and/or a weekly workshop is eligible to participate, and Future Music Project Ensemble members participate in all Studio 57 Live concerts. Participants must submit a Live Performance Request online three weeks prior to their desired concert date detailing the song, performers, and equipment needed for their performance. Carnegie Hall staff reviews all request forms and curates each concert, and students are contacted via email if they are chosen to perform. Each performer is allowed to invite up to five guests.
