NYO Jazz

NYO Jazz gives outstanding young jazz musicians from across the country the opportunity to perform as cultural ambassadors on an international stage, sharing a uniquely American musical genre with cultures around the world through an international tour.

In the summer of 2020, NYO Jazz musicians train with artistic director and bandleader Sean Jones and a world-class faculty in a multi-week residency at the campus of Purchase College, State University of New York. NYO Jazz musicians will join fellow musicians from NYO-USA and NYO2 for intensive training and joint music-making, giving classical and jazz instrumentalists the chance to collaborate and learn from each other. NYO Jazz’s 2020 tour to South Africa has been postponed due to the effects of COVID-19 and the current challenges with global travel.
