esperanza spalding’s singular artistic vision combines virtuosic bass playing, singing, composition, poetry, dance, activism, healing, and much more. Throughout a career of innovation, reinvention, and collaboration, she has sustained rare popular success and critical recognition, including five Grammy Awards, an NAACP Image Award, and a Soul Train Music Award, to name a few. Across multidisciplinary performances in Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage and Zankel Hall, as well as a Well-Being Concert at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, spalding explores the significance of community and its relationship to land and the arts.
