The Philadelphia Orchestra
Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra in a season-long celebration of Beethoven. Starting with an Opening Night concert that features the composer’s mighty Fifth Symphony, the orchestra performs all nine iconic symphonies alongside thoughtfully connected contemporary compositions that demonstrate the enduring impact of—and love for—Beethoven’s genius after 250 years.
After the full symphony cycle is completed, the orchestra shifts gears and welcomes Metropolitan Opera soprano Angel Blue in a program of three uniquely American works, including a New York premiere by Valerie Coleman. The season then concludes with a return to Beethoven, as the orchestra performs the legendary Missa solemnis with a full chorus and soloists.
