Carnegie Classics
Get a quintessential Carnegie Hall experience with three of the most anticipated events of the season. In a matinee performance, Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe continue their acclaimed, multi-season Brahms exploration, this year featuring outstanding pianist Beatrice Rana in the composer’s towering Piano Concerto No. 2. Nézet-Séguin also leads The Philadelphia Orchestra in Gustav Mahler’s Seventh Symphony, which the composer called his best work. Plus, experience a full concert of Beethoven’s violin sonatas performed by revered pianist Martha Argerich and violin virtuoso Maxim Vengerov.
Great American Orchestras
World-class American orchestras take center stage in several of the season’s biggest performances. Gustavo Dudamel conducts the New York Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic Chorus, and world-renowned opera singers in a concert performance of Puccini’s Tosca. Franz Welser-Möst leads The Cleveland Orchestra in Beethoven’s Missa solemnis, a colossal choral masterwork performed with leading soloists and The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. Andris Nelsons conducts the Boston Symphony Orchestra in Richard Strauss’s grand tone poem, Eine Alpensinfonie; and Elgar’s Cello Concerto, featuring soloist Yo-Yo Ma.

Witness some of the world’s most sought-after musicians on Carnegie Hall’s grandest stage. Enjoy piano recitals by the eminent Emanuel Ax, a perennial audience favorite; and Daniil Trifonov, one of the 21st century’s leading stars. Plus, dive into Beethoven’s timeless chamber works, as violin virtuoso Maxim Vengerov and the great pianist Martha Argerich perform a concert of violin sonatas; and the all-star trio of Evgeny Kissin, Maxim Vengerov, and Gautier Capuçon perform a selection of the composer’s most celebrated piano trios.

Experience four of the season’s biggest concerts on our most iconic stage. Global superstar Yunchan Lim performs a recital of Mozart’s piano sonatas as part of his anticipated Mozart cycle. Pianist Igor Levit, “one of the essential artists of our time” (The New York Times), gives a recital that showcases why he is one of the world’s most in-demand Beethoven interpreters. The groundbreaking Silkroad Ensemble celebrates its 25th anniversary with Artistic Director Rhiannon Giddens and Founder Yo-Yo Ma. “Global phenomenon” (The Telegraph) cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and “genius” (The Spectator) pianist Benjamin Grosvenor team up for an all-Beethoven duo and trio program that features violin virtuoso Hilary Hahn.
Great Artists III
Hear some of the greatest works ever written, performed by nine of the world’s leading soloists. Superstar pianist Yunchan Lim performs five of Mozart’s timeless piano sonatas and more. Violinist Maxim Vengerov and pianist Martha Argerich perform a program of Beethoven’s violin sonatas. An all-star ensemble of Leonidas Kavakos, Gil Shaham, Lawrence Power, Antoine Tamestit, Kian Soltani, and Alisa Weilerstein perform Brahms’s string sextets—two of the late-Romantic repertoire’s most exquisite chamber works.
International Festival of Orchestras I
This flagship concert series features three of the world’s top orchestras. “No orchestra is greater than this one,” The New York Times said after Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker’s previous Carnegie Hall appearance. Hear them perform works by Tchaikovsky and Elgar. Gustavo Dudamel conducts the New York Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic Chorus, and world-renowned soloists in Carnegie Hall’s first-ever concert performance of Puccini’s Tosca. The Vienna Philharmonic welcomes virtuoso soloist Yuja Wang in Prokofiev’s most popular piano concerto, and Yannick Nézet-Séguin also conducts the ensemble in Gustav Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.
International Festival of Orchestras II
Enjoy three of the world’s leading orchestras in major performances at Carnegie Hall. Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker were called “the best in the business” when they last performed at Carnegie Hall, and in this series they perform Richard Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra and Brahms’s passionate First Piano Concerto, featuring Daniil Trifonov. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Vienna Philharmonic in Gustav Mahler’s transcendent, final completed symphony, whose world premiere was performed by this ensemble. Sir Antonio Pappano conducts the London Symphony Orchestra and Maxim Vengerov, Alisa Weilerstein, and Kirill Gerstein in Beethoven’s rarely heard Triple Concerto and more.
International Festival of Orchestras III
Enjoy two Sunday matinees and a Saturday night with three of the world’s greatest orchestras. The Berliner Philharmoniker welcomes pianist extraordinaire Daniil Trifonov as soloist in Brahms’s passionate Piano Concerto No. 1, and Kirill Petrenko conducts the orchestra in Richard Strauss’s Also sprach Zarathustra, widely recognized from 2001: A Space Odyssey. The Vienna Philharmonic performs Gustav Mahler’s larger-than-life “Resurrection” Symphony under Yannick Nézet-Séguin, whose prior performance of this work at Carnegie Hall was called “amazement befitting a miracle” (The New York Times). Sir Antonio Pappano conducts the London Symphony Orchestra in Shostakovich’s stunning Symphony No. 8 and Beethoven’s revolutionary, sole violin concerto, featuring virtuoso Maxim Vengerov.
Keyboard Virtuosos I
Carnegie Hall is legendary for its piano recitals, and this popular series features five of the season’s most exciting. Experience a program of Mozart’s sonatas performed by Yunchan Lim; a selection of Beethoven’s sonatas performed by Igor Levit; and an incredible variety of works performed by Hélène Grimaud, Seong-Jin Cho, and Yuja Wang.
Keyboard Virtuosos II
Enjoy five of the season’s most anticipated piano recitals. Audience favorites Igor Levit and Evgeny Kissin perform full programs of Beethoven’s masterworks. Yunchan Lim, one of the instrument’s most recent superstars, performs a full concert of Mozart’s sonatas. Pianist Mitsuko Uchida treats listeners to some of the repertoire for which she is most renowned, including Schubert’s Piano Sonata in A Major, D. 959. Víkingur Ólafsson brings a singular, expertly sequenced program that oscillates between composers Philip Glass, Debussy, and Rameau.
Orchestra of St. Luke’s
This concert series by New York’s Orchestra of St. Luke’s and special guests is one of Carnegie Hall’s longest-running traditions—and for good reason. This season, Louis Langrée leads the extraordinary orchestra in a vibrant all-Berlioz program with tenor Benjamin Bernheim. Daniele Rustioni conducts a program of Dvořák, Busoni, and Chopin, featuring soloist Nobuyuki Tsujii on piano. Renowned singers and The Clarion Choir join the orchestra in a rousing performance of Mozart’s Requiem and Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G Major, led by Christophe Rousset. Plus, Andrew Manze conducts Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony and Piano Concerto No. 3, featuring soloist Yeol Eum Son.
Orchestral Masterworks
Three world-class orchestras perform some of the repertoire’s most powerful works in this flagship series. Experience Richard Strauss’s sweeping emotional range and stunning orchestral colors in a performance by The Cleveland Orchestra and Franz Welser-Möst. Hear Schubert’s monumental “Great” Symphony; Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 1, “Classical”; and Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 performed by the Munich Philharmonic, featuring its newly appointed chief conductor Lahav Shani as piano soloist. Finally, enjoy a spirited all-Prokofiev program performed by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Andris Nelsons with rising global superstar violinist Himari.
The Met Orchestra
Experience the famous passion and dramatic range of the Metropolitan Opera’s orchestra, led this season at Carnegie Hall by Sir Simon Rattle and Yannick Nézet-Séguin. In February, discover Rattle’s world-renowned interpretation of Bruckner’s monumental Seventh Symphony, and enjoy a spirited salute from Janáček to his native Czechoslovakia. In June, feel the beauty and visceral power of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony under Nézet-Séguin’s visionary direction.
The New York Pops
Experience five brand-new shows performed by The New York Pops and Steven Reineke. This season, Tony Award winner Lena Hall (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) celebrates 60 years of iconic music from the James Bond film series. Denée Benton and Jordan Donica—co-stars of The Gilded Age—perform favorites from the Great American Songbook and more. Derek Klena and Lindsay Mendez star in this year’s festive holiday concert. Jimmie Herrod (America’s Got Talent) and Marisha Wallace (Cabaret) take center stage in a first-of-its-kind New York Pops event in which the audience is introduced to dynamic rising stars à la Ed Sullivan. Reineke also leads a tribute to the iconic partnership between John Williams and Steven Spielberg and the movie magic they’ve created.
The Originals I
Nothing lights up a stage like the presence of a true original. This season, NEA Jazz Masters Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves celebrate the John Coltrane centennial with a world tour and a new album that pays tribute to Coltrane’s seminal collaboration with vocalist Johnny Hartman. In his Carnegie Hall debut, Tony- and Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, and actor Leslie Odom, Jr.—that’s Hamilton’s Aaron Burr, sir—performs one of his smash-hit holiday concerts. Audience favorite Jessica Vosk (Wicked, Hell’s Kitchen) showcases her incredible voice and effortless sense of humor in a brand-new concert, following a debut at the Hall that was described as “musical storytelling at its very best” (BroadwayWorld).
The Originals II
Three of the season’s most distinctive and in-demand performances are found in this series of innovative artists. Experience the Grammy-winning, virtuosic Punch Brothers quintet, featuring mandolinist and vocalist Chris Thile, guitarist Chris Eldridge, bassist Paul Kowert, banjoist Noam Pikelny, and violinist Brittany Haas. Join eminent soprano Renée Fleming and banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck’s all-star My Bluegrass Heart band in a rich celebration of Appalachian folk music. Collaborate with visionary artist esperanza spalding in a one-of-a-kind, interactive performance with her dynamic jazz and folk ensemble.
The Philadelphia Orchestra
Experience the world-renowned Philadelphia Orchestra in this four-concert series, an annual highlight of the Carnegie Hall season. This year, hear why the orchestra’s performances of Gustav Mahler’s symphonies are considered among the world’s most vital under Yannick Nézet-Séguin. He conducts the orchestra in Mahler’s First, Third, and Fifth symphonies in this series, as well as a colorful array of works by Still, Webern, and Julia Wolfe. Plus, hear Sir Simon Rattle conduct the ensemble in John Adams’s Harmonielehre, Debussy’s La mer, and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé Suite No. 2.
Wagner’s Ring Cycle in Concert
For the first time in Carnegie Hall’s history, one of the most magnificently powerful and sought-after creations in all of music—the Ring cycle—is presented in concert in its entirety. Hear Wagner’s legendary four-part epic performed by an extraordinary cast of Wagnerian singers specially selected for these history-making performances with the Orchestra of the Zurich Opera House led by Gianandrea Noseda.
Weekends at Carnegie Hall
There’s no simpler path to great weekend plans than this series, which puts three of the season’s most exciting concerts on your calendar—including two matinees. Under Lahav Shani, the storied Munich Philharmonic performs Bruckner’s masterful “Romantic” Symphony and Brahms’s virtuosic Violin Concerto, featuring Anne-Sophie Mutter, the “undisputed queen of violin-playing” (The Times, London). As part of a must-hear, season-spanning cycle, the brilliant Beethoven interpreter Igor Levit performs four of the composer’s piano sonatas. Plus, experience an annual highlight: the “luxurious Sunday afternoon featuring the period-instrument ensemble The English Concert, its artistic director and conductor Harry Bicket, and an impeccably cast and performed Handel opera” (The Wall Street Journal).
